Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Eastside Church of Christ with Ron Stough officiating. Burial will be in Duncan City Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Mr. McElroy was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Jester, to J.C. and Viola Hawkins McElroy. He married Bobbie Lee Collinsworth on Aug. 6, 1944, in Mangum, and moved to Duncan in 1948. Mr. McElroy served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 during World War II as a Seabee, including deployment in Okinawa. He spent his working life in and around the Duncan area including almost five years at Halliburton wiring up logging tools and trucks. Earl started at Mack Oil Company on Sept. 7, 1955, working as a mechanic and retired as the Shop Foreman on Dec. 31, 1989, completing 34 years of loyal service. Earl and Bobbie became members of the 14th and Main Church of Christ in 1953. They spent their lives in the service of their family, coworkers, church members and friends in Duncan and the surrounding communities. Earl spent his retirement years with Bobbie watching his many grandchildren and all the children at the Eastside Church of Christ grow up with his constant positive encouragement and always greeting every child he met with a quarter. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but none more than his family who he taught to love, live life to the fullest and support others in life as Earl and Bobbie have always exemplified. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Nancy McElroy, Judy Daughtrey and Susan Gregston; two sons, Paul McElroy and Monty Earl McElroy; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, J.V. McElroy and Ralph McElroy; and a sister, Edith Camp. Bearers will be Jay Paul McElroy, Jeff McElroy, Davy Gregston, Joe Collinsworth, Chris Daughtrey, James McElroy, Gary Camp and James Collinsworth.
