Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at the First Baptist Church in Lindsay with the Rev. Monty Baggett, Rev. Don Chaffin, Rev. Boyd Rayburn and the Rev. Kenneth Romines officiating. Burial will be held in the Foster Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. Born November 11, 1931, to Alvin and Lillie McConnell in Cox City, he graduated from Cox City High School and attended Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater and Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. McConnell was ordained in the gospel ministry June 15, 1951, he served at Rocky Ford Mission, Vimy Ridge, Ninnekah, Tuttle, Beaver, Elgin, Rush Springs, Henryetta, Lindsay, Letitia and Duncan Trinity. On June 19, 1953, he married Ruth Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and a brother-in-law Tom Broughton. Survivors in addition to his wife Ruth of the home include two sons and daughters-in-law David and Angela McConnell and Phillip and Guress McConnell; three daughters and sons-in-law Kathy and Rod Whitfill, Christy and Waymond McGee and Tammy and Terry Moore; and eight grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law Clema Broughton of Marlow and Dr. Robert and Clara Gibson of Oklahoma City; two aunts; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and a life long friend.
