All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 9 Jun 2002 obituaries Lillie Belle McConnell MARLOW — Lillie Belle McConnell, 93, of Marlow, died at home on Thursday, June 6, 2002. Service was held on Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Marlow with the Rev. Joe Ligon officiating and the Rev. Gene Jorgenson assisting. Burial was in the Foster Cemetery under the direction of the Callaway- Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel of Rush Springs. Mrs. McConnell was born Sept. 6, 1908, in Foster to Ernest B. and Mary Elizabeth (Selby) Stribling. She attended the Foster schools. She lived in Elmore City and Cox City for over 30 years. She resided in Marlow since 1966. She married Alvin S. McConnell in Foster on June 12, 1927. He preceded her in death in 1991. Survivors include a son, the Rev. Alvin McConnell Jr. and his wife, Ruth, of Ninnekah; two daughters, Clemo O. Broughton of Marlow, and Clara G. Gibson and her husband, Robert, of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Joy Massegee of Duncan and Naomi Barkley of California.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister. Bearers were Rod Whitfill, David McConnell, Phillip McConnell, Terry Moore, Waymond McGee, Terry Coy, Robert Gibson, Bill Broughton, Charles Gibson and Sam Broughton.
