All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Viola Campbell Montgomery January 10, 1925-April 16, 2003 Viola Montgomery, age 78, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield, California on April 16, 2003, following a brief illness. Viola was born January 10, 1925, in Odel, Texas. She was fifth of seven children born to Andrew and Nancy Campbell, Viola moved from Duncan, Oklahoma in the mid-50s to California and lived most of the last 45 years as a Ventura County resident primarily in Santa Paula, California. She married Guy Harold Montgomery, Jr. in 1960. She was a devoted mother and faithfully cared for her daughter, Linda, who required extended care. Viola enjoyed participating in family events and took pride in the activities and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She will be missed at family gatherings and special occasions. She is survived by her children, Thomas Doyle Campbell and wife Janet of Ventura. Carol and Hank Laskowski, Robert Montgomery and Linda Montgomery all of Bakersfield. Grandchildren Greg Campbell and wife Karen of Las Vegas, Brent Campbell and wife Delia of Camarillo, Devin Montgomery and wife Kelli of Bakersfield and Ventura Taneisha Bell and Daniel Nalley of Bakersfield, great grandchildren Joseph and Kiana Campbell of Camarillo and Matthew Campbell of Las Vegas. Thank you to Mercy Emergency Room ICU-1, 4-West, for the wonderful care you provided my mother while she was there. Thanks Gidget, Christina, Ivy, Gabi, Debbie, House Supervisor, and Carl Milikin, E.R. Karen, 4-West, Leah and all the other care-givers who cared for my mother. Thank you, everyone. Always. A reception to celebrate Violas life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1338 East Santa Clara Street, Ventura, on Sunday, May 4, 2003 at 1 p.m. Viola will be inurned at Pierce Brothers Cemetery in Santa Paula.
