Dr. Craig Christina officiating. Burial will be in Duncan City Cemetery, under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home in Duncan. The family will greet friends at the funeral home 2-4 p.m. Sunday. ========= Duncan Banner 19 Apr 2002 Ford Leonard ‘Pete’ Marks Ford Leonard “Pete” Marks, 80, of Duncan died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, in Duncan. Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Craig Christina officiating. Burial will be in Duncan City Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Mr. Marks was born November 19, 1921, in Waurika to Ford Lester and Margaret Ann (Fowler) Marks. He attended Waurika public schools and was a graduate of Duncan High School. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He married Elizabeth Ann Beasley on January 31, 1943, in Duncan. Mr. Marks was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations. He received an honorable discharge on February 25, 1946. He then enlisted in the National Guard, serving until June 4, 1948. Mr. Marks retired from Pete’s T.V., a family owned and operated television business. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a 50 year member of American Legion and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Oklahoma, where he was Past Grand Master and Past Grand Patriarch. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth, of the home, a son and daughter-in- law, Richard L. and Donna Marks of Duncan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janice Jameson of Duncan and Cindy and Gary Updyke of Checotah; five grandchildren, Christie Amundson and Darryl of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada, Greg Updyke of Checotah, Dustin Jameson and Kaycee of Duncan, Adam Marks and Jana of Stillwater, and Alex Marks of Duncan; three great- grandchildren, Bradley Grant, Reese Erin and Sonora Rose; a sister-in-law, Norma Jean Edwards of Duncan; and several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Skylar, Gillis, Jack and Joe Marks; and two sisters, Leota Brummet and Velma Fausnacht. Pallbearers will be his four grandsons, Greg Updyke, Dustin Jameson, Adam Marks and Alex Marks and friends, Justin Byrd and Clayton Haworth. Honorary pallbearers are Independent Order of Odd Fellows Past Grand Masters and Past Grand Patriarchs of Oklahoma, members of his Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church and Dr. Thomas R. Crow. Memorial contributions may be made to Chisholm Trail Hospice, P.O.
