All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Morris, Joyce Louise DUNCAN, Okla. - Joyce Louise Morris, 73, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Hail officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in McLean Cemetery in McLean, Texas. Arrangements are by Don Grantham Funeral Home and Lamb Funeral Home. Mrs. Morris was born Jan. 13, 1931, near McLean to Arlie and Vivian Landers Grigsby. She was a 1949 graduate of Amarillo High School. She married Jimmie Don Morris on June 25, 1948, in McLean. Joyce had a lifetime of volunteering in service to her fellow man. As a life member of Southern Baptist churches, she served many times in vacation Bible school and Sunday school and was president of her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church in Duncan. She also volunteered for many years with mentally handicapped people while living in Amarillo and Dumas. In Pampa, she volunteered at Coronado Hospital with the auxiliary and was a lifetime member. Her joy in life was found in service to her family as a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was an outstanding homemaker and was always busy as a seamstress and quilter and enjoyed various needlework arts. She was a wonderful cook. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her devotion to her Lord Jesus Christ and to her family served as a witness to all who knew her. Glory be to God for a life well lived! She was preceded in death by her father and a son, Jerry, who is in heaven, having died at 2 years of age. Survivors include her husband of 56 years; two sons, Jeff Morris and wife, Harriet, of Grapevine, Texas, and Joe Morris and wife, Caren, of Duncan; five grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, Hilary Morris, Tim Morris, Joshua Morris, Jason Morris and Jennifer Morris; and her mother, who is 97 years of age. Honorary pallbearers are Elmer Harmon, Herman Kaspereit, Carl McMullin, Frank Stanbaugh, Gerald Vincent, Truman West, Ron Nimmo and Clyde Walton. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church in Duncan, Global Mission Fellowship, in care of 4801 Frankford Road, Dallas, TX 75287, or to a favorite charity.
