Morrisett passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at home, surrounded by his family singing hymns. Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chisholm Trail Church of Christ with Lance Morrisett and Jon Hosch officiating. Burial will be in Duncan City Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Morrisett was born Nov. 26, 1914, Thanksgiving Day, in Crescent, to Oda Lee and Grace Edna Moffitt Morrisett. He grew up on a farm near Crescent with a younger sister and brother. He attended school in Crescent. His mother was a teacher and taught his class for several years. He played football for Crescent High School and graduated in 1933. Mr. Morrisett attended Oklahoma A & M College. He supported himself during his college years with a paper route. He graduated in 1936 with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He was in the top 10 percent of his class and was a member of the Sigma Tau Fraternity. He was also a member of the Pi Tau Sigma, an honorary mechanical engineering fraternity. After graduation, he heard that Halliburton was hiring in Duncan, so he came down and applied. He went to work for Halliburton in September 1936 as one of only five engineers. He was a member of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a registered professional engineer in Texas and Oklahoma. In 1940, he was transferred to Midland and served as the first field engineer for Halliburton. He returned to Duncan in 1942 and retired from Halliburton in January 1979, as the manager of sub-surface engineering. He also worked with Mr. Halliburton on the design and technical drawings for the Halliburton luggage. On Nov. 10, 1939, he married Mary Helen Boutwell. In 1999, they celebrated 60 years of marriage. He never stopped telling her that he loved her and that she is the prettiest woman in the world. They had three sons. Steven Lee is the oldest. The second son, David Gary, died in a drowning accident in Claridy Creek at the age of 2 1/2 years. Their third son, Philip Alan, passed away with leukemia at the age of 38. Mr. Morrisett was a member of Chisholm Trail Church of Christ for 55 years. He also served as an elder of the congregation for 25 years. He also worked with World Bible School conducting correspondence courses for students in Africa. In 1999, the Morrisetts moved from their home of 42 years on Fowler Drive to Chisholm Trail Assisted Living Suites. Mr. Morrisett is survived by his wife, Mary Helen, of the home; one son, Steve Morrisett of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Thelma Howell of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandsons and their wives, Brad and Holly Morrisett of Edmond and Lance and Jennifer Morrisett of Childress, Texas; a granddaughter and her husband, Melissa and Greg Bukovatz of Visalia, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Ross Morrisett and Emily Morrisett, both of Edmond; a daughter-in-law and husband, Vickie and Clint Stamper of Kimberling City, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Nita Stapp of Amarillo, Texas, and Patricia Boutwell of Houston, Texas; a niece, Suzanne Fabbi of Las Vegas; a nephew, Steve Morrisett of Oklahoma City; and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons and a brother, Don Morrisett. Bearers will be Rick Allred, Everett Bedford, Len Gibbens, Frank Spruiell, David Stapp and Eldon Stapp. Honorary bearers are J.W. Bradley, Tommy Myers, C.L.
