Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parkview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darrell Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Duncan, under the direction of the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home of Marlow. She was born Oct. 24, 1978, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Doug and Connie Jo Melton Rather. She was a 1997 Marlow High School graduate. She married Andrew Nickerson on Sept. 9, 1999, at the Redbud Chapel in Marlow. She was employed as a juvenile intake worker at the Community Intervention Center and was director of the nursery at Parkview Baptist Church, where she was a member. She also served as a caterer with Betty Davis. She also was a member of the Walters Round-up Club and the Order of the Eastern Star at Duncan. Mrs. Nickerson loved animals, especially horses. She raised Seeing Eye dogs for her 4-H project. She was a 2002 Cameron University graduate. She majored in family psychology and minored in family science. Mrs. Nickerson resided in the Marlow/Duncan area all her life. Surviving relatives include: her husband, Andrew, of the home; parents Doug and Connie Rather of Duncan; two sisters and their spouses, Sandy and Aaron Epperson of Comanche, and Christi and Waylon Neeld of Duncan; a niece, Justice Marie Neeld of Duncan; grandmothers Sue Schrock of Marlow and Joyce Weir of Duncan; grandparents, Dorothy and Mort Karman of Duncan, and Elmer and Annagene Nickerson of Comanche; a sister-in-law, Candice Weir; and parents-in-law, Nancy and Bruce Weir, all of Duncan. Mrs. Nickerson was preceded in death by grandfathers Buddy Schrock and Glenn Rather and great-grandparents Vollie and V.A. Jones. Bearers will be Elmer Nickerson, Aaron Epperson, Waylon Neeld, Junior Shannon, David Guild and Greg Wilson.
