All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 8 Dec 2002 Ogilbee, Orval Eugene After a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Orval Eugene Ogilbee, 88, passed from this earthly life on Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, in Duncan Regional Hospital. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Duncan Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Ogilbee was born June 1, 1914, to Mary Frances Jones and Charles Emory Ogilbee on a farm west of Temple. He graduated from Temple High School in 1932. After a few years in the bakery business, Orval and his bride, Mildred Sanders, headed west, arriving in Albuquerque, N.M., on Dec. 7, 1942. They immediately returned to Oklahoma, where Mr. Ogilbee joined the Navy. During the next three years, he served with distinction in the Pacific theater, in the Solomon Islands, where his unit received a Presidential Citation. After World War II, the Ogilbees returned to Oklahoma, where he owned and operated his own bakery and later was sales representative for Mead’s Bread and Wonder Potato Chips. Mr. Ogilbee will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and “greatgran.” Survivors include his wife of 61 years; three daughters, Diane Cowan and her husband, Wesley, of Moody, Texas, Leisa Helzer and her husband, Michael, of Elgin, and Jeanne, of the home; one son, Mark Ogilbee of Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Ballard and his wife, Dana, of Searcy, Ark., Angela Koke and her husband, Jeff, of Austin, Texas, Jessica Smith and her husband, Steven, of Edmond, Kimber Helzer of Weatherford, John Helzer of Elgin, Kayla Ogilbee of Waurika; and four great- grandchildren, Alexandra, Madie, Skylar and Chaz. Bearers will be Wesley Cowan, Michael Helzer, Jeff Koke, Jeffrey Ballard and John Helzer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ogilbee’s name to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 710 W. 168th St., New York, NY 10032.
