Stephens County Obits 26 December 1968 OCTAVIE LYNCH, LONGTIME DUNCAN RESIDENT, DIES Mrs. Octavie Lynch, 88 of 1207 Poplar, a long-time resident of Duncan, died in a local hospital early Wednesday following a long illness. Mrs. Lynch was born at Batesville, Ark., Oct. 1, 1880, and came to Duncan in 1900. She was married to John Wesley Lynch at Duncan in 1922. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Bennett of Los Angeles; two sons Willis J. Willeford of the home and Clyde C. Willeford, 1402 S. 9th; a sister, Mrs. Maude Webb, Phoenix, Ariz., eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Service will be in the Brooks Funeral Home chapel Friday at 2 p.m. Ed Morris, minister of the Westside Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery. Bearers will be Rollin Bennett, Earl McMasters, Jack Angle, Junior and Wallace Mooney and Kermit Pemberton. Honorary bearers will be Sug Covington, Earl Cummings, Dr. W.R. Cheatwood, Leo Andrews, D.H. Guinn, Jim Allen and Horace Cummings. 7 June 1969 STANDRIDGE RITES TUESDAY Service for Willie Oscar Standridge, 71, who died Friday at his home at 214 N.E, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating for the service will be the Rev. W.M. Howard assisted by the Rev. J.I. Howard. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Bearers are Hegel Branch, Clyde Willeford, Willis Willeford, Julian Rayburn, Earl Brown and Joe Earl Morris. 12 July 1966 CITY WOMAN TAKEN BY DEATH Mrs. Esther Mae Gibson, 65, of 1232 S. 8th, died in an Oklahoma City hospital Monday after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Gibson wasa born in Arkansas Aug. 17, 1900 and had been a resident of the Duncan area since 1905. She was a member of the Church of God. She is survived by her husband, Leo; five sons, Eugene Standridge, Amador, Calif.; Aleck Standridge, Oklahoma City; Bobby Standridge, 1205 Poplar; Scotty Standridge 1230 S. 8th, and Albert Standridge, 712 S. 13th; one daughter, Mrs. Austin Keck, Comanche; two brothers, Clyde Willeford, 1302 S. 9th, and Willis Willeford, 1207 Poplar; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Bennett Los Angeles; 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral will be in the Grantham Funeral Home Chapel Thursday at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. J.I. Howard, who will be assisted by the Rev. W.M. Howard. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery. Bearers will be Ike Pollock, Charles Pimperton, Clyde Brown, Earl Cummings, John Lillard and Rollin Bennett. 27 February 1949 WALTER WILLIAMS FUNERAL ON FRIDAY Services for Walter Gene Williams, a Duncan youth who was killed by a subway train in New York will be held at Beeson Grantham's Funeral Home Friday at 10 a.m. Rev. George McCollum, Church of Christ, will officiate. Survivors are the father, Warner Williams, who lives 2 miles west of Duncan, the mother Mrs. R.H. Anderson, Hollywood, N.M., and two sisters, Mrs. Max Hardy, Vancouver, Wash., and Mrs. Gerald Gray, Amarillo, Tex. The body is expected to arrive from New York tomorrow at 1:10 p,m, Bearers will be Earl Russell, Garold Earnhart, Lloyd Clark, Bruce Ridley, Leon Edwards, Leo Edwards, Kermit Calmes, and Edward Savage. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery. 24 October 1980 LESLIE R. WILLEFORD Leslie R. Willeford, a former Duncan resident, died Oct. 23 in a Lawton hospital after a short illness. He was 70. Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, in the Lawton-Ritter-Dalton Funeral Home chapel, with Mardell Lynch, minister of the Western Hills Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery. Willeford was born Nov. 19, 1909 in Duncan, and moved to Lawton 20 years ago. Survivors include two sons, R.Z. of Dinuba, Calif., and Gilbert of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, E.A. Willeford, Ft.
