POSEY, SR. Funeral service for William T. Posey, Sr., age 89, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2004, in the Grand Assembly of God Church. Rev. David Klumpp will officiate, and Rev. Larry Hatfield will assist. William T. Posey, Sr. was born on November 23, 1915, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Lillian Parker Posey and Raymond Leslie Posey. He died on December 2, 2004, in Chickasha. Bill graduated from Duncan High School, attended the University of Oklahoma on a football scholarship, then transferred to Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, and later to Texas Tech University where he graduated with a B.S. degree in elecrical engineering. During his last year at Texas Tech he taught mathematics. His first professional employment was at General Electric in Schenectady, New York, in 1943. Bill met his wife Dorothy Nare at the General Electric Plant. They were married on February 6, 1944 in Johnstown, New York. Mr. Posey obtained his professional engineering license and his first patent (of several) while working at GE. Their first child, a daughter named Faith, was born in Schenectady, New York. General Electric transferred him to Buffalo, New York, to be head of the engineering department. While working in Buffalo their first son was born, William Thomas (Tom) Posey, Jr. General Electric sold the manufacturing line in Buffalo to a company called Gordos of New Jersey. Gordos offered Mr. Posey a job and he became a partner in the business. The Posey family moved to New Jersey and their second son was born shortly thereafter, David T. Posey. Mr. Posey and a retired Bell Labs engineer started the reed switch line at Gordos a short time later. For the next fourteen years Mr. Posey was Manufacturing Engineer and Manufacturing Manager for the reed switches at Gordos. During this time the Poseys had a third son, Mark A. Posey. Mr. Posey longed to return back home to Oklahoma to start his own reed switch company. In 1968, William, Dorothy, Tom, David and Mark all moved to Oklahoma, and Hermetic Switch, Inc. was founded. Faith was already married to Everett R. Andrus at the time, but they would soon follow to work in the family business. Mr. Posey enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, puzzles, and his family. He loved to play shoot-em-off checkers with players under the age of five; older grandkids played regular checkers. William T. Posey was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Raymond Posey, his brother George Posey, of California, a sister, Christine Fogaley, of Kansas, a granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Posey, and a son and daughter at birth. Survivors include: wife, Dorothy N. Posey, of the home; daughter and husband, Faith and Everett "Bud" Andrus, of Chickasha; son and wife, Tom and Sandy Posey, of Chickasha; son and wife, David T. and Charla Posey, of Blanchard; son, Mark A. Posey, of Wilcox, Arizona; brother, Walter Posey, of Duncan; sister, Beulah Faber, of California; seven grandchildren: Beth Scrutchins and husband Keven, Robyn Cunningham and husband Tim, Mike Andrus and wife Arline, Travis Posey, Ryan Posey and wife Ashley, Brooke Berthiaume and husband Erich, and Elise Posey, six great grandchildren: Jeremy Ramirez, Cydney Ramirez, Chase Cunningham, Branden Cunningham, Jack Scrutchins, and Emma Andrus. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
