All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian James Melvin Padgett Sr. May 31, 1931 August 1, 2002 Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd for James Melvin Padgett Sr., 71, who went home to be with our Lord on August 1, 2002. Pastor Roy Bullock Jr. will officiate. Jim was born on May 31, 1931 in Stephens County, Oklahoma and lived most of his life in Bakersfield. He courageously served his country as a Marine Paratrooper during the Korean War, earning several medals. Following college, Jim began a career with Southern Pacific Railroad that lasted for 37 years after which he retired as a foreman. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; sons, James Jr., Tom, Jeff, and Michael Padgett; daughter, Terri Lundy; step-sons, Bob Soto, Richard and Donnie Rickel, their spouses; numerous grandchildren; sister, Rudene Ferris and family and friends.
