All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Duncan Cemetery--Duncan OK Duncan Banner 7 Mar 2003 Kermit Pemberton Kermit Pemberton, 90, of Duncan, went to be with his Lord, Thursday, March 6, 2003, in Duncan. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Kermit was born Sept. 27, 1912, in Duncan, to William Henry and Helen Snider Pemberton. He married Coy Berniece Erwin on Aug. 27, 1938, in Wichita Falls, Texas. They spent their honeymoon in Sulphur, and continued to enjoy camping and traveling. They visited all 50 states and celebrated their 50th Anniversary with their best friends, of more than 40 years, in Hawaii. In all of his years of travel he never met a stranger and usually ran into someone he knew. Mr. Pemberton was employed with Halliburton Services for 33 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Kermit was a kind and patient family man, who loved to read and work in his garden. He was also a big part of his grandkids lives. Those who have been touched by his life are too numerous to mention. The many wonderful memories of those who have known and loved Kermit will bless us the rest of our lives. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Coy, of the home; two sons, Dr. William Pemberton and his wife, Martha, of LaCrosse, Wis., and Pete Pemberton and his wife, Terri, of Lake Village, Ark.; two daughters, Kathy Bowles and her husband, Buddy, and Patti Williams and her husband, David, all of Duncan; four grandsons, David Pemberton of Kansas City, Mo., Greg Pemberton of Half Moon Bay, Calif., Mike Pemberton of Moore and Darrell Bowles of Duncan; six granddaughters, Susan Sparks of Ardmore, Dayna Budlong, Haley Williams, Ashley Williams and Kenzie Williams, all of Duncan, and Donna Smith of New Jersey; two great-granddaughters, Laken Whitney and Madison Bowles, both of Duncan; six great-grandsons, Alan Sparks and John Sparks, both of Ardmore, Luke Pemberton, Garrett Pemberton and Dillon Pemberton, all of Lee Summit, Mo., and Caden Bowles of Duncan; eight step grandchildren; and very dear friends of 58 years, Dorothy Ross and Helen Elledge. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
