Pearson, Dr. Wayne Dewitt Dr. Wayne Dewitt Pearson was born on August 2, 1922 in Marlow, Oklahoma. He died in Oklahoma City on April 10, 2004. He was retired after serving as a Minister of the gospel for fifty four years. Wayne pastored Southern Baptist churches in Oklahoma, Kansas and California. He began his ministry in Zoe, Oklahoma and served for eight years at the First Baptist Church of Purcell, Oklahoma before going to California. While in California he pastored churches in Pasadena, Buena Park and El Monte. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Ray Gayle Pearson, by a sister, Lillian Watkins, and three brothers, Price, Clyde and Don. He is also preceded in death by a great grandson and a great granddaughter, Kayla Bartley. Wayne is survived by his wife, Elvon Link Pearson. They were married on July 18, 1945 at Olivet Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He leaves behind a daughter, Lanetta Bartley of Oklahoma City and two sons, Steven of Las Vegas, Nevada and Paul of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by two special daughters in law, Joy and Kelly. Wayne leaves behind nine grandchildren, Eric Bartley, Jewel Bartley Hite, Cody Bartley, Holly Pearson, Matthew Pearson, Kiley Sullivan, Andrew Pearson, Emily Pearson and Evan Pearson. He is also survived by five great grandchildren, Trenton, Madalyn, Samantha, Alexandra and Abigail Bartley, one brother, L.B. Pearson and one sister, Jewell McElroy. The service will be at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S. Penn, on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park immediately following the service. Wayne was a true example of generosity and unconditional love.
