Porter MELROSE, N.M. - Thomas L. Porter, 83, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at Roswell. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Bushart officiating. Masonic graveside services will be in Melrose Cemetery by Melrose Lodge No. 39 AF&AM. Arrangements are by SteedTodd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Porter was born in Bokchito, Okla., and had lived in Melrose since 1946. He served as mayor of Melrose during the 1950s. He was a member of Melrose Lodge No. 39 AF&AM and the Lions Club. He married Faye Cox in 1934 at Marlow, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy Porter of Albuquerque; two daughters, Fana Lou of Roswell and Sondra Sullivan of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Geneva McComas of Whittier, Calif., and Pauline Inman of Tulia, Texas; a brother, Edmon Porter of Ocean Side, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. The casket will be open at the funeral home and prior to the service.
