Rowell, Jr., 77, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, in Duncan. Graveside services were held at Marlow Cemetery on Friday, Sept. 16, with the Rev. Jimmy Green officiating. Services were under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. H.W. was born Oct. 5, 1927, in Marlow to the late Hubert Wesley, Sr., and Nona Bell (Bible) Rowell. H.W. attended school at Sandhill and Bray. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He lived in the Marlow area for 12 years. He lived in California 20 to 30 years previous to that and worked 10 years for Dos Palos Ranch as a ranch hand. He enjoyed gardening and raised the best flower and fruit trees. He could grow things that no one else around here could grow. He also enjoyed fishing. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two sisters, Eva Mae Lang of Marlow and Lorene Lewis of California; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Nona; a brother, Paul Rowell; and a sister, Pauline Roach.
