All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :New Velma Cemetery-Velma OK Duncan Banner 17 Sep 2002 Udell Vance Romine VELMA — Udell Vance Romine, 80, longtime Velma resident, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, in Wilkins Nursing Center. Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Velma’s First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Rodgers officiating and the Rev. Arden Smith assisting. Burial will be in the New Velma Cemetery under the direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. Mr. Romine was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Velma, to Aire and Kattie Loring Romine. He married Lillian Marie Hopkins on June 11, 1947, in Kerman, Calif. Mr. Romine was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. He worked for S and W Trucking Company until his retirement. He loved to fish, fight chickens, and play cards and dominoes. He was a master story teller and enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Mr. Romine was a member of Velma’s First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lillian "Tommie" Romine, of the home; two sons, Larry Romine of San Antonio, Texas, and Steve Romine of Ringling; four daughters, Cathy Little, Joanne Romine and Janet Roberts all of Velma, and Brenda Romine of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Gloria Sellers of Velma; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bearers will be Casey D. Little, Kevin Romine, Rusty Romine, Trent Cunningham, Joe Cunningham, Donny Brant and Billy Moiser. Honorary bearers are Jeff Sellers, Carl D.
