All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm +=========================================================================+ Lawton Constitution 14 May 2003 John Wesley Shively DUNCAN — Graveside service for John Wesley Shively, 85, Duncan, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, with the Rev. Craig Christina officiating. Mr. Shively died Monday, May 12, 2003, at his home. Arrangements are by Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home, Marlow. He was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Corn to Levi and Nelda Bell Grebe Shively. He graduated from Premont High School in Texas in 1936, and lived in the Lawton and Duncan area. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He married Helen Davis in 1948 in Carnegie. He was an airplane mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base, and at Fort Sill as a helicopter mechanic with Spartan. He retired after 22 years as a truck mechanic with Wonder Bread. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors include his wife, Lawton; a son, Jerry Jon Shively, Duncan; a brother, Herbert Shively, Oklahoma City; three sisters: Ella Merril, Cordell; Marie Ricks, Premont, Texas; and Ruth Canales, San Antonio, Texas; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
