All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 21 Apr 2002 Winona Margaret Haines Sudberry Winona Margaret Haines Sudberry, 94, of Duncan died Friday, April 19, 2002, in Country Club Care. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church Chapel in Duncan with the Rev. Craig Christina and the Rev. Jody Hilliard officiating. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home in Duncan. Mrs. Sudberry was born April 2, 1908, in Alva to Ora V. and Winnie Cummings Haines. She married Edward Carmack Sudberry on Nov. 15, 1928, in Duncan and he preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1970. Mrs. Sudberry taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church for many years. She and her husband were owners of Sudberry Paint Store. She attended Southeastern College in Durant and business school in Duncan. She was a bookkeeper for several firms in Duncan and was the first secretary for First Baptist Church. Music was her big interest in life. She was a member of the Glee Club in school and the Duncan Music Club. She served as church organist for 30 years. Survivors include a daughter, Penny Guillory of Duncan; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Sudberry of Duncan; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Granville Ward of Duncan and Wanda and Roy Segler of Lawton; six grandchildren, Jim Ed Bearden and his wife, Valerie, of Medicine Park, Douglas Sudberry and his wife, Lisa, of Southlake, Texas, Mack Sudberry and his wife, Donna, of Trophy Club, Texas, Monica Hill and her husband, Jon, of Alva, Staci Sudberry of Duncan, and Jami Guillory of Duncan; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Richard Edward Sudberry and Winnie Lou Bearden; three sisters; and two brothers.
