Russell was born on April 6, 1941 to Ralph and Virgina (Russell) Stone in Duncan. At the early age of five years old, Russell lost his mother suddenly and his life began to change. His paternal grandmother, Beatrice Stone, quickly stepped in and was instrumental in his rearing. Russell attended elementary school, junior high and high school in Marlow, graduating in 1959. In high school, Russell's number one interest was FFA; he excelled in meat judging, cattle showing and parliamentary procedure, landing him the outstanding honor of State Star Farmer in 1959; presented to him by the late Honorable J. Howard Edmunson. Russell was also the state winner in 1957 and 1959 in parliamentary procedure, as well. Another honor that Russell was most proud of was being elected President of his senior class of 1959 in Marlow High School. He was truly a Marlow Outlaw to the bone! After graduation, Russell's interests turned to real estate, oil and gas leases and cattle. On Dec. 4, 1970, he married Janice Faber at the First Baptist Church in Duncan. His daughter, age 4 and son, age 2 were his life. He said many times, "this was the best deal he ever made." At the age of 22, he was a licensed Real Estate Broker and has been one ever since. His accomplishments included: Certified General Real Estate Appraiser licensed in Oklahoma and Texas, President of Marlow Lions Club, President of Marlow Chamber of Commerce and long time Chairman of Marlow Parks Committee. He was voted Outstanding Citizen of the year in Marlow in 1977. He served 10 years as a Land Appraiser for the State of Oklahoma Land Commission, serving under three governors. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Duncan Chamber of Commerce, Duncan Elks Lodge and Oklahoma City Petroleum Club. His Masonic membership include the following: Duncan Lodge #60, McAllister Consestery, India Shrine Temple, a Royal Arch Mason, a Cryptic Mason and Knight's Templar. Russell was also a faithful member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Duncan. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Virginia Stone grandparents, Camden and Beatrice Stone and Earl and Cora Russell, and one brother, Ralphie Stone.
