Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dean Hall officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery. William Edward "George" was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Ringling, to William Edward Sr. and Ruby Alma Westbury Strawn. He married Florence Marie Alexander on Nov. 14, 1952, in Henrietta, Texas. Mr. Strawn worked for Halco Services from 1948 to 1968 and began working as a welder in the oil fields at Velma in 1970. Then, in 1973 he opened his own welding service which he operated until retirement in 1985. He enjoyed working on small engines. He loved his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Jack Davis of Duncan; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jo Ann Strawn of Duncan; a brother, Bill Strawn of Comanche; two sisters, Alene Nelson of Duncan and Irene Stewart of Healdton; two grandchildren, Amberly Lynn Davis and Melissa Mowdy and her husband, Brad; and two great- grandchildren, Taylor Dawn Mowdy and Braden Chase Mowdy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, J.T. Strawn. Bearers will be Pagan Ballard, Tim Buttram, Dub Lynch, Danny Burton, Greg Bumpass and Steve Nalley.
