All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 26 Nov 2002 James Dea Sloan BROKEN ARROW — James Dea Sloan, 74, of Nowata, left us on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, to be with our Lord and also his soulmate, Geraldine. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, under the direction of Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home of Tulsa. Mr. Sloan was born in Duncan. He served in the United States Navy and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. While serving in the Navy he designed the Eagle Torpedoes for his fire squadron and it was worn proudly by all men in his squadron. He finished his service in the Navy with a world tour and served with the CB’s until 1963. After the war, he drew cartoons for Walt Disney (Woody Woodpecker). Then he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. There he retired and was able to enjoy the rest of his years, doing things he loved; he loved visiting with his family, which we will miss very much. Dad will be loved and missed by all. He is loved and survived by four sons and five grandchildren; Scott and his wife, Loren, of Floridal; Michael and his wife, Susan, of Florida; Brett and his wife, Connie, and their son, Brent, of Tulsa; Brent and his wife, Brenda and their daughters, Shauna, Kara, Breanna and son, Chad. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Stephens County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/stephens/stephens.htm
