All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 9 Dec 2002 Virginia Lee Shahan MARLOW — Virginia Lee Shahan, 85, of Marlow died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, in Duncan Regional Hospital. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Croswell officiating. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery. She was born Oct. 18, 1917, in Marlow, to Edward Eugene and Sarah Maude Armer Smith. She lived in the Marlow area all of her life. She attended Bray Schools. She received her nursing degree through attending the vo-tech. She formerly worked for Talley-Walker Hospital and Lindley Hospital as an L.P.N., and she retired from nursing after 30 years. She loved quilting and gardening, especially growing strawberries, beans, potatoes, cabbage, okra, corn and peanuts. Her brother-in-law, J.B., taught her how to drive, and she received her driver’s license at age 62. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donnie Shahan of Marlow, Bob and Cheryl Shahan of Miami, Fla.; three grandsons, Johnny Shahan and his wife, Crystal, Brance Shahan and Tony Shahan, all of Duncan; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mayota Morrison, Erma and J.B. Shaw, all of Marlow; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Johnny Shahan and Eddie Shahan; five sisters, Mary Graham, Bertha Smith, Bell Jackson, Minnie Sutton and Suda Smith; and three brothers, Thomas “Dick” Richard Smith, William R. Smith and Andrew Eugene Smith.
