All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::White Rose Cemetery--Reydon OK Duncan Banner 24 Mar 2003 Homer Sumpter Service for Homer Sumpter, 83, of Duncan, who died Sunday, March 23, 2003, in Duncan, is pending with Don Grantham Funeral Home. ========= Duncan Banner 25 Mar 2003 Homer Sumpter Homer Sumpter, 83, of Duncan died Monday, March 24, 2003, in Duncan. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in White Rose Cemetery in Reydon with a Military Chaplain officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Homer was born Oct. 4, 1919, in Stonewall, to Emerson Dozier and Myrtle Mae Martin Sumpter. Mr. Sumpter was a veteran of World War II and a D-Day survivor, serving in the United States Army. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include three daughters, Alice Cline and Joelanda Sue Powers, both of Oklahoma, and Lydia Mattlage of Georgia; three sons, Gary Sumpter of New Mexico, Frank Sumpter of Texas and Michael Sumpter Tucker, who is serving in the military in Japan; three brothers, J.D. Sumpter of New Mexico and Jack Sumpter and Charles Sumpter, both of Oklahoma; a sister, Jeannie O. Gillian of New Mexico; and several grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Vicki Oleta Pen’ Jackson and Virginia Ann Chishum; a half brother; two sisters; a half sister; and three grandchildren.
