All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 19 Aug 2002 George Edward Smith TEXARKANA, Texas — George Edward Smith, 78, of Texarkana, Texas, and Duncan died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, in Duncan Regional Hospital. Graveside service was to be at 2 p.m. today in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Texarkana with Don Brown officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Fuqua Everett Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Smith was born July 30, 1924, in Terrell, Texas. He retired as an agent from Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the 364th Fighter Group and a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Robertson Smith, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Darla Smith of Duncan; two sisters, Ann Huffman of Keller, Texas, and Kay Grigson of El Dorado, Ark.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Cody Smith and Brian Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
