Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the New Hope Baptist Church West in Duncan with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will be in the Temple Cemetery under the directions of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Mrs. Smith was born April 17, 1928, in Walters to Arnedus Wilson and Beulah Victoria Lisbee Smith. She moved with her family to east Texas at the age of 3 years old. They returned to Walters when she was 9 years old. In 1944 she graduated from Walters High School. She married J.B. Smith on July 6, 1946, and they made their home in Duncan. Through the years, she has worked at Goodner’s and later at J.C. Penney for 14 years. Mrs. Smith loved crocheting as well as playing the piano and organ. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing with her church group each week at area nursing homes. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church West in Duncan. Survivors include her husband, J B, of the home; three sons and daughters- in-law, Lloyd E. "Gene" and Kathy Smith of Duncan, Lynn and Kay Smith of Carrollton, Texas, and Jay Michael and Danna Smith of Plano, Texas; a sister, Ruth Thomas of Tulsa; seven grandchildren, Gina Rodriguez and her husband, Eddie, of McKinney, Texas, Steven Smith and his wife, Lori, of Lockhart, Texas, Staci Smith of Stillwater, April Gailley and her husband, Shane, of Carrollton, Jason Smith and his wife, Laine, of Dallas, Bridget Smith of Nashville, Tenn., and Clay Smith and his wife, Shala, of Richards, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Caden Gailley, Eliah Rodriguez and Abigail Smith. ========= Duncan Banner 29 Nov 2002 Betty Lou "Peggy’ Smith Betty Lou "Peggy" Smith, 74, of Duncan died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, in her home in Duncan.
