Service is pending with Dudley Funeral Home of Comanche. ========= Duncan Banner 15 Apr 2002 Virginia Hall Sharp COMANCHE — Virginia Hall Sharp died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at the age of 84. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Comanche with Joe Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home. Mrs. Sharp was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Porum to the late Grace Futrell and Fletcher Hall. She grew up in Checotah. She attended Oklahoma A&M and the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English and library science. In 1938, Virginia married Kenneth Sharp in the Checotah Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Heavener, Purcell, Coalgate and Ada before coming to Comanche in 1957 where Virginia was an English teacher and librarian. She retired in 1979. Mrs. Sharp was very active in the Comanche Methodist Church, being a Sunday School teacher and working in the Welyan Guild and Methodist Women. She was also active in Retired Educators. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Robert Murl Sharp; and a brother, James Sidney Hall. Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Sharp Payne and her husband, Bob, of Princeton, Texas; three grandchildren, Stephanie Payne Mertz and her husband, James, of Prairie Grove, Ark., Allison Payne Kennedy and her husband, James, of McKinney, Texas, and David Payne of Princeton; two great-grandchildren, Gracie and Elijah Mertz of Prairie Grove; a sister, Bonnie Jennings of Muskogee; a brother, Dr. Joe Bill Hall and his wife, Patsy, of Fayetteville, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Cloressa Hall of Little Rock, Ark.; and 14 nieces and nephews and their families.
