He married Viola Cannon in Comanche on Jan 20, 1946. They resided most of their married life in Comanche. He attended Moran School, was a surveyor in Arizona then enlisted in the Army Air Corp where he was a pilot with missions over Germany during World War 11. He received four Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Metal. He was discharged in Oct. 1945. He was employed at Sun Oil Co. for 35 yrs. He enjoyed raising horses, playing dominoes and visiting people. Survivors include his wife of the home, a daughter and son-in-law Susan Jane and Brain Gates of Ponca City; two grandsons, Eric Bruce of Tulsa and Geoffrey Bruce of Lansing Michigan, four great- grandchildren , Lindsay Rae and Bethany Michelle Bruce of Tulsa and Geoffrey and Cameron Bruce of Lansing, two brothers Kendall Sears and Aubrey Sears, both of Duncan and a sister Lois Absher of Duncan. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church Chapel in Duncan. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home of Duncan. --------------------------------------------------------------------
