All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Joe Dean Tidwell WICHITA FALLS - Joe Dean Tidwell, 71, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Cupples, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park. Mr. Tidwell was born in Duncan, Okla., and had lived in Wichita Falls since childhood. He was a football player at Wichita Falls High School, Midwestern State University and for the Baltimore Colts in 1953 and 1954. Mr. Tidwell was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Since 1975, he was a deputy sheriff for Wichita County where he was made deputy for life. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge No. 1105. He married LaVerne Souther in 1961 at Henrietta. Survivors include his wife; a stepson, Bobby Steward of Canyon; a stepdaughter, Jean Ann of Mansfield; three grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Elks Lodge No. 1105, 4205 Seymour Hwy., Wichita Falls, TX 76309.
