Thomas, 89, a federal government personnel employee, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at a local hospice. Memorial service: will be held at a later date. His cremains will be taken to Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Wendell W. Thomas was born Oct. 9, 1915, in Duncan, Okla., to Ila Marie and I.C. Thomas. He was a World War II veteran and served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Yugoslavia. He earned several commendations, including the Bronze Star. He also earned commendations for service in the Korean War. He was inducted into the Albuquerque, N.M., Bowling Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; and brother, Dane Thomas. Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Howard Carvajal; grandchildren, Carolyn Hackney and Gary Miller of Burleson, Paul and Alana Carvajal of Overland Park, Kan., and Stephen and Heather Carvajal of Bethel, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Perry Partlow Jr., Brooklyn Carvajal and Benjamin, Christine and Daniel Miller; great-great-grandson, Julian Partlow; nephew, Robert Paul Thomas of Truth or Consequences, N.M.; and numerous cousins, including Paula Currey of Lewisville, Loraine Murphy of McKinney and I.C. and Joy Thomas of Clifton.
