She passed away June 1, 2004 at Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 96 years. Gertrude attended High School in Cheyenne. In October of 1925 she married J.W. "Bull" Woods of Duncan, Oklahoma. To this union was born five children. They lived in Cheyenne until the 1950's when they moved to Arizona. Gertrude was a homemaker who cared for her familly freely and lovingly. She was the comforting grandmoother, loving mother, dutiful daughter and faithful wife. "a voice stilled but will always be heard by her family." She was the last in her generation of the Martin's. Her grandson, Grant Woods, wrote a song, "Emeline", dedicated to her. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Chrisy. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Fostina; son, Billy Don' 2 grandsons, Jeff Miller and Michael Cross and his wife and son. Two brothers, Clarence and Lloyd Lee Martin. Survived by her son, Joe Woods and wife Nina, 2 daughters, Patsy Edwards and husband, Morrie, and Ann Conway and husband, Fred, all of Mesa, Arizona; 10 grandchilden, 22 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Ruby Martin, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; nephew, Gary Martin and family, cousin, Floyd Harmon, and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial Services were held October 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma officiated by Kendall Abner under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne.
