Whitehead, Gladys Lucille  

Gladys Lucille Whitehead, 81, of Duncan, former longtime resident of San 
Diego, Calif., died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in Duncan. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home of 
Duncan. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Whitehead was born July 24, 1920, in Newkirk to Dave and Merle Lida 
Admire Mapel. 

She married Augustine "Bud" Whitehead on Nov. 7, 1947, in Arkansas City, 
Kan. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1994. 

Mrs. Whitehead moved to Duncan in 1989. She was a homemaker and an avid 
bingo player. 

Survivors include two sons, Larry Whitehead of Del City and Rory Whitehead 
of Vacaville, Calif.; two sisters, Norma Drake of Spokane, Wash., and 
Evelyn Roe of Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Donald Mapel; seven grandchildren; 
and nine great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.
