Walker MARLOW — Service for Dr. W.K. Walker, 93, of Marlow, who died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, in Marlow, is pending with Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home. ========= Duncan Banner 3 Oct 2002 W.K. Walker MARLOW — Service for Dr. W.K. Walker will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Marlow, with Dr. Mike Norfleet and the Rev. Gene Jorgenson officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home of Marlow. Dr. W.K. Walker was born June 5, 1909, in Weleetka, to Charles Lathan Walker and Alma Ridley VanHoozer Walker, and passed from this life on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, in Marlow. He was 93. He graduated as salutatorian from high school in Pittsburg, Okla., in 1928. His family moved to Waco, Texas, where he graduated from Baylor University in 1932. He was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society and Phi Alpha Sigma Social Fraternity. Following graduation from Baylor Medical School in 1936, he served an internship at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, from 1936 to 1938. He married Allabell Taylor on July 3, 1938, in Dallas. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2001. Together they had one son, William K. Walker Jr., who preceded him in death in 1962, and two daughters, Alma Kay and Ann. Dr. Walker moved to Marlow in 1938 to join Dr. C.N. Talley’s medical practice. He joined Talley-Walker Hospital partnership in 1955. He established and ran the Southside Clinic from 1981 to 1996. After 60 years of practicing medicine, he retired on Jan. 1, 1996. Dr. Walker’s “Desire To Make A Difference” translated into 3,104 babies delivered, thousands of surgeries, examinations, prescriptions written, and 10 to 15 house calls made per day. He was well known to everyone as “Daddy Doc.” His motto was “Neglect of a patient is an unforgivable sin.” He had been a member of First Baptist Church of Marlow since 1938, was a member of the Marlow Lions Club for 57 years, and had been a member of the Stephens County Medical Society since 1938. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Mike Norfleet of Richmond, Va., Ann and Terry Brown of Marlow; a sister-in-law, Agnes Walker of Shreveport, La.; eight grandchildren, William Kenneth Walker III and his wife Cindy, of Houston, Kassie Damon and her husband Albert, of Lawton, Randy Norfleet and his wife Jamie, of Texarkana, Texas, Shawna Davis and her husband Daren, of Mongu Zambia, Africa, Jeremy Norfleet and his wife Amy, of Wakeforest, N.C., Kristen Terrell and her husband Steve, of Marlow, Suzanne Bomhoff and her husband Steve, of Owasso, and Greg Brown and his wife Jennifer, of Wylie, Texas; 16 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ray and Alicia Walker of Houston, Brandon Damon of Lawton, Kathryn Mears and her husband Mike, of Lawton, Matthew, Paul and Morgan Norfleet of Texarkana, Micah, Meredith and Peyton Davis of Mongu Zambia, Makenzie and Sydney Terrell of Marlow, Taylor, Katie and Rob Bomhoff of Owasso; five nephews and four nieces. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Walker and Ralph Walker. Bearers will be Ken Walker, Randy Norfleet, Jeremy Norfleet, Greg Brown, Steve Terrell, Steve Bomhoff and Daren Davis. Honorary bearers are D.B. Green, Dale Davis, Homer Cobb, Dr. Bruce Scott, Dr. Bill Edwards, Monte Srygley, Dr. Robert Weedn and Henry Bonney.
