All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Marlow Cemetery--Marlow OK Lawton Constitution 30 May 2003 Harvey Dixon York MARLOW — Funeral for Harvey Dixon York, 85, Marlow, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Marlow, with the Rev. LaRoyce Brown officiating. Mr. York died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at his home. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Marlow, to Lee and Virgie Palmer York. He attended Carter Seminary in Ardmore, and lived in the Marlow area most of his life. He served in the Army during World War II with the 45th Infantry Reconnaissance Division. He married Freida "Jean" Dake Aug. 24, 1947. He served as a Marlow policeman for 20 years, and retired in 1984.He was a member of Marlow VFW, the American Legion, and the Marlow AARP. He was a former member of the Marlow Lions Club, and a former Mayor of Marlow. He had a Choctaw heritage, and was chairman of the first Choctaw Tribal Council. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Shelia York, Geronimo; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Beverly and Jimmy Jones, and Kathy and Foster Singleterry, all of Marlow; and Marjorie Comer, Elgin; five brothers: Osborne, Henry, George, and Milford York, and Lee York Jr.; three sisters: Mildred Fenkell, Catherine Hughes, and Nellie Marco; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
