All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Elmhurst Cemetery--Guymon OK Amarillo Globe News 10 Dec 1997 Prentis Sargent Beasley GUYMON, Okla. - Prentis Sargent "Cap" Beasley, 95, died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Henson-Novak Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. David Schwarz, missionary in Costa Rica, and the Rev. Terry Armstrong, pastor of Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Mr. Beasley was born on the old Beasley Ranch. He attended Hardesty school and graduated from Guymon High School with the class of 1918. He was a World War I veteran of the Army. After the war, he attended Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell and the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where he majored in finance and banking and was a member of Delta Upsilon. In 1930, he returned to the Panhandle and began his career in cattle. He operated a purebred Hereford breeding ranch. He was a lifetime member of the Hereford Association and was honored as the 1978 Texas County Pioneer Days Parade Marshal. Mr. Beasley married Dorotha Gertrude Roberts in 1940 at Miami, Texas. He was preceded in death by a stepson. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Prentis Beasley Jr. of Grain Valley, Mo., and Murry Beasley of Texhoma; a stepdaughter, Adeline Hensley of Loveland, Colo.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. A Cap Beasley Memorial has been established for the Panhandle Area Sheltered Workshop. Memorials will be accepted at Henson-Novak Funeral Home, Box 1306, Guymon, Okla. 73942.
