Raymond B. Baker, 82, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000.



Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with James

Peach, minister of First Baptist Church of Vega, officiating. Arrangements are

by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St.



Mr. Baker was born in Williamson County, Ill., and was a longtime resident

of Amarillo. During World War II, he served in the Army. He retired as

foreman of the Randall County road department. He was a member of the

South Lawn Baptist Church and the San Jacinto Lodge No. 1330. 



He married Dorothy Weaver In 1944. He was preceded in death by a son,

Douglas Baker, in 1964.



Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Baker of Amarillo; a daughter, Linda

Sutton of Guymon, Okla.; a brother, Melvin Baker of Portales, N.M.; three

sisters, Opal Ware of Morton, Florence Boyce of Lubbock and Jean Kelly of

Richardson; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.



The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo,

TX 79176.



The body will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. until noon today at the

funeral home.
