All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 27 April 1998 Mattie Maude Cayler Bates HARDESTY, Okla. - Mattie Maude Cayler Bates, 89, died Saturday, April 25, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hardesty School Auditorium with the Rev. Don Calvert officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mrs. Bates was born in Lipscomb. She lived in Perryton until 1957 when she moved to Arizona. In 1972, she moved to Amarillo then moved to Hardesty in 1982. Mrs. Bates was a self-employed owner of a cleaning shop in Perryton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hardesty and Daughters of the Nile. She married Bill Cayler in 1933 at Clayton, N.M. He died in 1947. In 1957, she married J.R. Bates who died in 1969. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Wilkins of Hardesty; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
