All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 18 Oct 1998 Virgie Mathilda Anne Bauer GUYMON, Okla. - Virgie Mathilda Anne Bauer, 90, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Guymon with Mark Wescoatt, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery north of Guymon by Henson-Novak Funeral Home of Guymon. Mrs. Bauer was born north of Guymon and attended Bartels schools. In 1926, she graduated as salutatorian of her class at Guymon High School. She then taught at Bartels schools for the next two years. An early member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mrs. Bauer taught Sunday School and was the first president of the Ladies Aid. Mrs. Bauer was active as a 4-H leader and served as superintendent of the 4-H department of the Texas County Fair. She and her husband farmed. They were among the first in the community to have irrigated farming. She married Leo Henry Bauer in 1927. He preceded her in death in 1986. Survivors include a son, Lanny Bauer of Guymon; two daughters, Dolores Plepho and Loretta Reeves; four grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
