All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Los Angeles Times 21 September 2004 Brooks, Kenneth Wayne Kenneth Brooks, a resident of Huntington Beach, California, went to be with our dear Lord Jesus on Thursday, September 16, 2004 at the age of 81. He was a retired Texaco Landman. Kenneth was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, July 30, 1923, to Walter and Lola Brooks. He was the second oldest of four children. Kenneth moved to Guymon, Oklahoma where he spent his childhood. He played football and graduated form Guymon High School. he served in the United States Navy during World War II in the south Pacific. He held a Bacherlor's Degree from Southern Methodist University and met Ruth Hyde in Oklahoma City. They were married September 15, 1952 and had four children. Over more than 30 years Kenneth worked for Texaco in Oklahoma, Utah, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, California, Alaska and California where he retired. While in California he worked for Texaco on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles and lived in Huntington Beach, California. He was a man of faith and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Huntington Beach for 25 years. He served the Lord in different capacities through through the years. He enjoyed singing in the choir and attending Sunday School and Bible Studies. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Ruth Brooks, and his children Nancy Johnson and husband Mark of Sanger, CA; Michael Brooks and his wife Sherry of San Clemente; Scott Brooks of Hesperia; and Susan Yunek and her husband Bradley of Sanpoint, ID; 11 grandchildren: Ryan Brooks, Matthew John, Natalie Brooks, Jason Johnson and wife Stephanie, Jarod Johnson, Rebecca Brooks, Brittany Brooks, Rachael Brooks, Heather Yunek and Amanda Brooks and 1 great grandchild Connor Brooks. He is also by survived by his brothers R.T. Brooks and his wife Elizabeth of Goodwell, Oklahoma; and Bob Brooks and his wife Lois of Sevierville, Tennessee. He will be remembered with gratitude by his family for being a devoted husband of 52 years; a loving and supportive father and a beloved grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, Tuesday, September 21, 2004 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a graveside service held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2004. A memorial service celebrating Kenneth's life will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at South Shores Church, Crown Valley Parkway, Monarch Beach, at 1:00 p.m. with a receptions following the service.
