All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Hooker Cemetery--Hooker OK Lois Rebecca Mizer Bryant HOOKER, Okla. - Lois Rebecca Mizer Bryant, 79, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Mimms officiating. Burial will be in the Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Bryant was born in Estellene, Baca County, Colo., and was raised on the family ranch southwest of Pritchett, Colo. She graduated from Pritchett High School in 1939. She graduated in 1943 from Panhandle A&M College at Goodwell. She married Sgt. George Raymond Bryant in 1945 at Fort Smith, Ark. They lived in Goodwell until moving in 1948 to Hooker, where she taught first grade. She also taught at Mount Hope, Kan., Bonner Springs, Kan., Texhoma and Tyrone. She retired from Natural Gas Pipeline Co. in America in 1986 after 23 years. After retiring, she did genealogy research, volunteered at Hooker Elementary and helped with her husband's business. Mrs. Bryant was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hooker, Business and Professional Women, Order of Eastern Star and the Garden Flower Club. She was a lifetime member of the Hooker Education Foundation, was listed in Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities and was a member of the Beaver River Genealogy Society, where she helped create the first and current Hooker Cemetery directory. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert Bryant of Bartlesville and Roger Bryant of Midland, Texas; a daughter, LaRayma Straus of Amarillo; a brother, Bill Mizer of Kim, Colo.; and a sister, Jo Mahon of Guymon; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Hooker Cemetery Fund c/o Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945 or a favorite charity.
