All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Dorothy Jean Gartung Cawley HOOKER, Okla. - Dorothy Jean Gartung Cawley, 78, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Liberal, Kan. Private family memorial services were Monday in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at Liberal, Kan., with the Rev. Timothy Kline, the Rev. Gretchen GoodPankratz and Bob Judd officiating. Arrangements were by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mrs. Cawley was born in Miami, Okla. She graduated from Miami High School and attended Northeastern Oklahoma Junior College at Miami. She later attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman, receiving a degree in dietetics. She worked for Oklahoma University Health Science Center. She married L.P. Cawley in 1946 at Fort Monmouth, N.J. They moved to Hooker in the late 1940s. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at Liberal and worked with the youth of the church. While in college, she was president of Eta Upsilon Gamma, the Student Council, Phi Theta Kappa and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Survivors include four sons, Michael A. Cawley of Ardmore, Patrick Cawley of Carlsbad, Calif., Joseph Cawley of Hooker and John T. Cawley of Tulsa; a daughter, Mary Carolyn Knowles of Bakersfield, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Building Fund at Liberal c/o Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
