Carson HOOKER, Okla. - Milford E. "Bill" Carson, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hooker Church of Christ with Don Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Carson was born in Liberal, Kan. He attended school in Liberal and Tyrone. He served in the South Pacific as a machine gunner for 23 months during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married his wife, Naomi, in 1950 at Hutchinson, Kan. They lived in Hutchinson, Waverly, Kan., and East Liverpool, Ohio, before moving to Hooker. Mr. Carson had been a truck driver for 30 years and also had worked with the Corps of Engineers in Waverly, where he helped build the John Redman Reservoir. He farmed for area producers and was employed as the city of Hooker landfill operator until retiring.
