All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 21 April 1998 Davis, Marion Juanita GUYMON, Okla. - Marion Juanita "Mom" Davis, 76, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Don Chase and the Rev. David Cook of United Methodist Church at Hooker officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mrs. Davis was born and raised in Holdenville. She graduated from Holdenville High School in 1939 and attended junior college at Okmulgee for two years. She married Clement Davis in 1940 at Holdenville. They moved to White Deer, Texas. In 1948, they moved to Hooker. She sang with and directed the Lions Club Minstrels for many years and served as manager for Mike Grey's congressional campaign. In 1959, Mrs. Davis attended Panhandle State University at Goodwell. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree in music and psychology. They moved to Guymon in 1961 and she began teaching at Guymon High School in both music and psychology. She retired in 1983 after teaching for 22 years. She directed many musicals in Guymon and taught voice lessons. She was a member of First Christian Church and sang in choirs at the churches in Guymon and Hooker. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband in 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Marion Duncan of Hooker and Peggy Boren of Guymon; a brother, Richard J. Shurley of Edmond; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
