All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Memorial Park Cemetery--Amarillo TX Otis Leroy Dixon Otis Leroy Dixon, 89, of Amarillo died Wednesday, July 30, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Ray Guy, of West Amarillo Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Dixon was born in Hooker, Okla., the youngest of three children to William and Rosa. He grew up in the Dumas farming area and went to Dumas High School. He was a longtime resident of Amarillo having retired from the Department of Interior, Helium Operations. He served as a staff sergeant in the Texas State Guard until it was disbanded. He entered the Navy on June 4, 1943, and served with the Sea Bees in Hawaii. He received an honorable discharge on Sept. 30, 1945. On Nov. 1, 1947, he married Tillie Eudell Peters. To this union, two daughters were born. He had been a member of West Amarillo Christian Church since 1959. He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Lynn McElroy and husband, Jack, of Longview and Sharon Rose Davidson and husband, Eldon, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a grandson, Aaron Joseph Davidson of Colorado Springs.
