Gordon Fowler HOOKER, Okla. - L. Gordon Fowler, 92, died Thursday, July 31, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Cook, pastor, and the Rev. Tom R. Lee of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Fowler was born in Henderson County and moved with his family to the Oklahoma Panhandle in 1905. His father had been a homestead farmer southeast of Guymon. He graduated from Guymon School and attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville, Mo., on a football scholarship. He married Esther Monk in Maryville. She died in 1963. Mr. Fowler married Lorna Crockett Hammond in 1965. She died in 1996. Mr. Fowler worked for the Oklahoma State Highway Department. He also was a farmer and co-owner of the Panhandle Hatchery in Hooker. He was a member of United Methodist Church and had served on its board of directors. Mr. Fowler was a charter member of the Masonic Lodge in Guymon and a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was a member of Eastern Star and a charter member of the Hooker Lions Club. Mr. Fowler served on the board of directors of the Hooker Equity Co-Op and on the Hooker City Council. He was appointed interim county commissioner by Gov. George Nigh. Survivors include his son, Robert H. Fowler of Hooker; a daughter, Mary Louise Skillings of Columbia, Md.; a stepson, Glen M. Fowler of Ruidoso, N.M.; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Charity of Choice c/o Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, P.O.
