All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 6 Jul 1998 PAMPA - Mabel Alexander Ford, 93, died Saturday, July 4, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church of Pampa with Dr. Edwin Cooley, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Ford was born in Texhoma, Okla., where she graduated from high school. She attended college in Goodwell, Okla., and Boulder, Colo., receiving a teacher's life certificate. Mrs. Ford taught school in the Oklahoma Panhandle for 10 years. She moved to Pampa from Guymon in 1943. She owned and operated Ford's Children's Wear and later Ford's Boys' Wear. She was a longtime member of the Professional Women's Club and the El Progresso Club, of which she became an honorary member in 1997. She also was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Pampa. She married Charles P. Ford in 1927 at Boulder. He died in 1993. Survivors include two sisters, Lula Kuhn of Pampa and Jewel Davidson of Denver; and a brother, Ray Alexander of Harrison, Ark.
