She was born March 8, 1912 in Guymon, OK to James Elbert and Effie May Mitchell. Shortly thereafter her family moved to Kingfisher, OK where she graduated from high school and was a life long resident. Virginia married John A. Francis April 28, 1935. Together they raised three children. She worked at Conley Hardware and Solomon's Agency as a bookkeeper/accountant. In later years, she was a homemaker and the bookkeeper for the family farming and ranching business. Virginia was a member of the First Christian Church and was involved in many church and civic activities including PEO Chapter Y, Business Women's Study Club, Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club, Kingfisher Council of Garden Flower Clubs, Mothers' Study Club, Sweet Pea Garden Club, OKC Bookcase Review Club, Ladies' Music Club, Life Member of Altrua Literary Club, and Oklahoma Cowbells. She was recognized in Who's Who in Oklahoma in 1964. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband John A. Francis, her parents, sister, Marion Mitchell, brothers, Jay Calhoun and J.E. Mitchell, Jr., and son-inlaw, Harold F. Reherman. She is survived by her three children, Peggy Reherman of Kingfisher, John E. Francis and his wife Sue of Edmond, Jane Kenney and her husband John of OKC, 6 grandchildren, John Mark Reherman, Lisa Reherman Whitefield, John Carl Francis, Steven Michael Francis, John Graham Kenney, and Lauren Elizabeth Kenney, and 6 great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (Alzheimer's Research), Russell Murray Hospice, or the First Christian Church of Kingfisher. Memorial service pending.
