All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Fred Sylvester Graves Services: Friday, Sept. 13, 10 a.m. Fred Sylvester Graves was born November 19, 1909, the youngest child of Sylvester and Nellie (Wamsley) Graves, near Guymon, Oklahoma. Fred married Rhea M. Rhodes on December 24, 1936, in Perry, Oklahoma. His parents, 2 sisters, Hazel and Earlene, and 3 brothers, Clarence, Claude, and Clyde precede him in death. He is survived by his wife, Rhea, of the home; and 5 children, Sylvia Andres (Mulhall, OK), Ruth Lewis (Bakersfield, CA), Donna Trent (Birmingham, AL), John Graves (Bakersfield, CA) and Nancy Reeves (Mustang, OK); 12 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Fred had a talent for growing things. He lavished the project of the moment with such loving attention that his children flourished, his gardens thrived and animals responded to him immediately. He did not need to preach about his deep and abiding faith but lived it as an example for all to see and imitate every moment of every day. Viewing and Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services at 10 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 13, at Mish Funeral Home, 120 Minner Ave., in Oildale.
