All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Hooker Cemetery--Hooker OK Glenn Grounds HOOKER, Okla. - Glenn Grounds, 79, formerly of Hooker, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Church of Christ with Neville Buchanan and Lloyd Riddles of Sunset Lane Baptist Church in Guymon officiating. Burial will be in the Hooker Cemetery with John Maynard officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Grounds was born in Hooker. In 1937, he moved to Puyallup, Wash., where he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and later served in the National Guard. He also served six years in the Army during World War II. He then moved back to Hooker, where he married Vera Bertha Oxley in 1950. Mr. Grounds worked as a butcher in several stores, and he and his wife later owned and operated 54 Diner. Mrs. Grounds died in 1991. He was living in Guymon at the time of his death. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Larry Glenn Grounds of Guymon; two daughters, Rhonda Kay Critcher and Carolyn Lee Keith, both of Hooker; a brothers, D.J. Grounds of Puyallup; two sisters, Imogene Hill of Hooker and Marvella Massie of Tacoma, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. The family suggests memorials be to the Hooker Cemetery Fund, c/o Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Okla. 73945.
