Hopson DUMAS - R.G. Hopson, 87, died Monday, July 22, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Hopson was born Nov. 30, 1914, in Mound. He was a Dumas resident for more than 40 years. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Dumas. He married Emma Jane Williams on Feb. 25, 1945, in Cross Plains. He was an English teacher in Dumas for more than 20 years. He was a minister for 20 years. He served in World War II in the Air Corps. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Beverly Thurman and husband, Dale, of Littlefield and Julia White and husband, Dale, of Hooker, Okla; a sister, Lois Clawson of Temple; a brother, Raymond Hopson of Prescott, Ark.; a granddaughter, Kristen Helton of Crowley; and a grandson, Ryan Thurman of Littlefield. The family suggests memorials be to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.
